The Carpal Tunnel is a narrow passageway formed by the Carpal ligament, on the inside of the wrist and the underlying wrist bones. Long tendons run through the passageway from the muscles in the forearm to the bones of the hand and fingers. The median nerve also runs through the tunnel to control the hand muscles and convey feeling from the fingers.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is the compression of the median nerve, caused by the swelling of tissue around it in the tunnel. Causes of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome include:

  • Wrist injury.
  • Repetitive movement
  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Pregnancy
  • Diabetes Mellitus

What are the Symptoms?

Compression of the Median nerve causes numbness and pain, especially in the thumb to middle fingers. Repetitive Strain Injury can be treated safely and reduces swelling and pain immediately with the use of Laser Treatment from The Laser Centre.
